1931
“In both cases the goalkeeper is my father, Percy Basham, who always said that he played for Town Street. The earlier picture, with the trees in the background was taken in 1930 or 31, the ball is clearly labelled ‘TSFC 1930-31 – dad said he was 16. Town Street won two shields that season: the Ouse Valley League shield and the Brandon Knock out shield. Brandon Recreational were less successful, playing in the Bury & District league division 2 and ending the season in mid table. This may have been in the field down Small Fen Lane where the Town Street team played for some time before moving to the field opposite the Crown. He said he was 25 in the second picture, which would mean it was around 1939. Town Street, played their matches on a field opposite the Crown Public House, in fact it has been said they often took a swift drink to fortify themselves before a match!”

1922-23 Brandon Rec(Recreation), back in the day when managers and coaches wore suit, tie, hats and a rosette. Despite the glum facial expressions on many of the players, this photo looks like it was taken to celebrate the team winning a cup or championship title.
